In honor of Black History Month, your humble blogger would like to acquaint you with Pierre Toussaint, a Hatian-born slave who died free in New York City. His life of service and faith lead Pope John Paul II to declare him Venerable, initating the process which may make Toussaint the first Black North American saint.
